Welcome
to BoldTypeNews, a service provided by Bold Type News, Inc. The company Bold
Type News, Inc. is referred to as "Bold Type News," "we," "our," or "us" in
this agreement. Bold Type News presents content published on the Internet that
may be of interest to you using information you provide to us (the "Service"). The
Service is offered to you under this Privacy Policy
and the Terms of Service Agreement.
The
privacy and security of your information are very important to us. We will not
"sell, share, or distribute" your information. Please read this agreement.
1. INFORMATION
WE COLLECT
There
are three types of information we collect:
Registration
Information. When you sign up for the Service, we may ask you to provide information
such as your name, email address, mailing address, telephone number, organization,
and payment information. We do not
collect this information without your knowledge. We call this information "Registration
Information."
Address
Book Information. In order to provide information that is relevant to you, you may
deliver to us, or we may collect with your permission, information about your
contacts from sources you designate such as mobile devices, personal computers,
servers, or third party services. The information we collect consists of
information that is typically included in an address book such as people names,
organization names, mailing addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers. We
do not collect this information without your knowledge. We call this
information "Address Book Information."
Service
Information. When users use the Service, we may collect and store, through
various methods, information that enables us to operate and improve the
Service. We may: verify, correct, combine, improve, and augment
Address Book Information with data from third party sources, with data from
other users, and with data derived from operating the Service; capture device
information such as hardware model, operating system, device identifiers, Internet
protocol address, browser information, unique application numbers, and mobile
network information; collect log information such as the date and time of use
of the service, referral URLs, and links visited through use of the Service;
and record information when users contact us or use the Service. We call
this information "Service Information."
2. HOW
WE USE THE INFORMATION
Registration
Information. We will not sell, share, or distribute Registration Information
with third parties. We use Registration Information to establish an account,
communicate with users, and provide the Service. If a credit card is required,
we do not collect or store any credit card information. Credit
card information is collected by a secured, certified, third party payment
processor.
Address
Book Information. We will not sell, share, or distribute Address Book
Information with third parties. We use Address Book Information to identify
content published on the Internet that may be of interest to users.
Service
Information. We will not sell, share, or distribute Service Information with
third parties. We use Service Information to operate the Service
and customize and improve the Service for our users.
3. HOW
WE PROTECT THE INFORMATION
We have
established information collection, storage, and processing practices to
protect information stored by Bold Type News.
Registration
Information, Address Book Information and Service Information is not visible to
third parties. To access and view your Registration Information and Address
Book Information requires a password. We may ask you to verify your identity to
safeguard your information.
We limit
access to Registration Information, Address Book Information and Service Information
to the employees who operate the Service. If we hire or are required to employ
contractors and agents who have access to such information, they are subject to
the same confidentiality obligation.
We try
to keep the Service free of technical errors and safe from external, malicious
software, and attempts to break into the Service. However, since the Internet
is not a 100% secure environment, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of
any information that is transmitted to us.
4. HOW
TO CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT
You may
close your account at any time. If you close your account, or if we close your
account, your use of the Service may terminate immediately or at the end of
your billing period, if any. When your account is closed, you will no longer
have access to the Service or your Registration Information and Address Book
Information. Your account will generally be removed from
the Service within 24 hours of termination. We may operate multiple servers in
order to insure continuity and speed of service and as such after you close
your account we may not be able to delete residual
copies from all of our active servers immediately. Servers that store or
process information provided by you may be located outside the country where
you live. Furthermore, such information may remain on our backup files until
such times as those back up files are deleted.
We may
retain Registration Information and Service Information after you close your
account in order to operate the Service and, if necessary, to comply with legal
obligations, meet regulatory requirements, resolve
disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, provide support-related reporting, or
enforce the terms of this agreement. In all events
such information remains subject to this Privacy Policy.
We may
store software programs and certain of your information on your device. We may
also collect and store information locally on your device using mechanisms such
as browser web storage and application data caches. You may delete any
information or software programs we install on your device at any time. If you
remove such data the Service may not operate properly.
5.
DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION
We may be required by law, subpoena, or other legal process to
disclose information we collect while operating the Service to assist
government agencies, respond to suspected or actual illegal activities, and
investigate and defend against third party claims or allegations. We will take
all reasonable measures to prevent or limit such disclosures.
We may need to disclose
information we collect while operating the Service to protect the rights,
safety, security, and integrity of the Service, our employees, and our users
and to enforce the Terms of Service. We will take all reasonable measures to
prevent or limit such disclosures.
We may
disclose, on a confidential basis, the information we collect while operating
the Service to third parties in connection with a financing, a sale of part or
all of Bold Type News, or other corporate event. Such third parties
will be bound by this Privacy Policy. Any successor will have the right
to use the information collected operating the Service so long as such successor
abides by this Privacy Policy.
6. OTHER
PROVSIONS
By
providing information to us when you create or update your account, you
expressly and voluntarily accept the terms and conditions of this Privacy
Policy and the Terms of Service Agreement.
Our
Privacy Policy does not apply to sites found by, or external to, the Service.
We may change
this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is available on our
website. If you object to any changes,
you may close your account or, if possible, opt out of the service or services
that required the change to the Privacy Policy. Continuing to use the Service
means that you are consenting to the most current Privacy Policy.
If you
have any concern about providing information to us as permitted in this Privacy
Policy and the Terms of Service Agreement, you should not sign up for the
Service, or close your account if you have already registered.
